I am looking at this page which is at present blank and I'm thinking this is much like a puppy.

The puppy starts out with a 'blank page'.

Some traits will be inherited due to the chosen breed or type of dog (show line, working line).

However the way you bring your puppy up will have a real impact on the way he or she eventually turns out. 

Personally I prefer a positive, reward based training programme.

I try to apply this approach when I teach.
